Romulus and his Spolia Opima Unisex Short Sleeve T-shirt

Availability: In stock

In the first war after founding the city of Rome, Romulus faced some of the neighbouring tribes that were enraged by the so-called Rape of the Sabines.  The Romans had abducted hundred of virgins from those tribes and some kind of violent reaction from them could have been expected.

Before the mighty Sabines waged war, Romulus had to meet the Ceaninenses in battle. He faced the enemy king in a one-on-one combat and killed him. He striped him of his armour and brought this fantastic spoils of war to Rome. Such achievement was later called spolia opima and only a handful of Roman generals were able to claim it.
If you think Romulus achieved something extraordinary, this T-shirt is for you. The image comes from a painting of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and depicts Romulus bringing the armor to Rome.
